Theme: Dealing with the Sounding Brass

Topic: The True Nature of Love Part 1

Text: 1Cor 13:4

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud"

The virtues of love enumerated by Paul in 1Cor 13:4-7 give the moral excellences of men on earth. Man as a moral agent that knows what is good and bad, inherited this quality from God who created man in His own image and likeness. Patience and kindness are two positive virtues. Envy, boast and pride are three negative virtues. These virtues help to to evaluate our relationship towards one another and should characterize our leadership qualities. If the church, government and family should consider these qualities from the positive side, there should be no contest for position since the qualities have naturally put everyone in his own place. This will also eliminate poisoning, bloodshed, kidnapping or harming of good and helpful young men in our society. Let's consider love again as an antidote of wickedness among us.

1. Love is patient. This shows the character of being "long tempered" "Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city" Prov 16:32. It's a common proverb that "A patient dog eats the fattest bone". True love must display the attitude of patience in relationship. Those who are so fast and impatient, either summersault or run out of track. Let's be patient.

2. Envy is the source of all evil in our families, church and government. Cain is seen as an example, "For this message that the heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous" 1John 3:11-12. Good people are poisoned, eliminated, hypnotized , kidnapped, raped, murdered, stampeded or destroyed because of envy. Yet there are messages and music of love everywhere and every day. It's only true love that can settle the case. Aladinma (native courts), Court or competent jurisdiction, police, amnesty, palliative could not and can not.

3. Boast and Pride are twin negative traits. Anyone with the character of boasting must also display the character of pride. To boast means to speak of one's position, height, achievement, authority etc with pride. Pride means "Conceited sense of one's superiority" . This is to show off, to brag, to show element of arrogance. These are against the principle of Love. They are all the works of the flesh and can never move in the same direction with spirituality. Love is spiritual and obeys the detects of the word of God. Let's practice it DAILY sincerely without hypocrisy and enjoy it's full result.

Prayer: My heavenly Father, guide my heart to better understanding and help me to maintain my spiritual quality that competes with pressure of evil; I shall overcome in Jesus name.
