Theme: Dealing with the Sounding Brass.

Topic: The Jealousy of Love

Text: Songs of Solomon 8:6

"Place me as a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, it's jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire., like a mighty flame".

Love perseveres and never gives up it's victim like grave perseveres and never gives up the dead. This is owing largely to the jealousy of love. Love is really jealous and does not easily release it's victim. Some men or women have committed suicide on this ground. This shall not be our portion.

1. Love is jealous. Jealousy is an act of possessing tenaciously what belongs to us. According to Dictionary jealous is "feeling angry or unhappy because somebody you like or love is showing interest in somebody else". "It's jealousy is unyielding as the grave" S of S 8:6. Somebody may be willing to die for what he or she loves. This shows how deep love is. Some go a long way to defend whom they love even if they know that the person is guilty and will be willing to die for the person. Our prayer is that we do not die ignorantly and we do not defend and die with a guilty person.

2. The jealousy of love may be divinely, satanically or humanly orchestrated. God is jealous Exod 20:5. Man may have good zeal for God like Phinehas Num 25:11-13. Satan can also put jealousy in our heart to cover, to destroy, criticize wrongly, hate or poison like the woman in 1Kings 3:16-28. When jealousy is motivated by the Spirit of God and True love, its known as "zeal". It was written of Jesus, "" The zeal of the Lord hath eaten me up" John 2:17(KJV).

3. We should check out between our zeal for God's work and jealousy from Satan. Jealousy can be godly (2Cor 11:2) or the work of the flesh or Satan. Herod was jealous of his throne and planned to kill any revelry king Matt 2:3, 16-18. We should avoid mixing our jealousy for God's work with envy. God is watching.

Prayer: Oh LORD my God, please direct me well when my love for you is shifting to evil intention that leads to destruction. Guide me well and deliver me from enemies who are jealous to destroy me in Jesus name.
