Text: 1John 3:16


"We know what real love is from Christ's example in dying for us. And so we also need to lay down our lives for our Christian brothers"


No Dictionary definition has been able to give satisfying answers to people's quest for the meaning of the word, "LOVE" except the biblical record of Christ's Sacrificial death on the cross for our sins. This is the real love! 


1. This death on the cross opened door for God's abundant blessings in our lives. Curses were broken "In whom we have redemption through his blood even the forgiveness of sins' Col 1:14. "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross" Col 2:14. Jesus showed us real love by dying on the cross.


2. Real Love is not theoretical but practical. It is demonstrative. It was a curse to die on the cross in Christ's days. "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, " cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree" Gal 3:13 (KJV). The reason for this sacrifice is given, " That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ: that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith" Gal 3:14. " Greater love hath no man than this, that a man may down his life for his friends" John 15:13.


3. Real Love is possible: " And so we also ought to lay down our lives for our Christian brothers".It can only energized by the power of the Holy Spirit . Those who are in the flesh can not please God. Man by nature is carnal. But through spiritual birth, we become a new creation. This is the nature that can lay life for the christian brethren! It will be impossible for non brethren to do this. But what are we seeing today? 


Prayer: My Lord and my SAVIOUR, your death on the cross will never be wasted, I offer my life to you, help me to also help save others in Jesus name.
