Theme: The Shepherd's Hidden Words

Topic: One of the True Disciples.

Text: John 6:70 - 71

"Then Jesus replied, "Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!". 71 He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him".

Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, one of the Twelve, supposedly, the true Disciples, was a devil! He was not classified as one of the fake or false disciples. Why? He was really called of God and had all the privileges to be one of the best outstanding and successful disciples. His choice to fail was probably personal to him based largely on his selfish, and uncontrollable carnal desires which eventually opened we order door for the devil to possess and destroy him.

1. As a man from Kerioth in Judah, he was the only non Galilean among the twelve disciples. Judas Iscariot was rumoured to be a cousin of Jesus Christ and would have been Jesus defender. He, instead, chose to be a betrayer. It's a pity!

2. Judas Iscariot was appointed a Treasurer but turned thief. "He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief as keeper of the money bag; he used to help himself to what was put into it" John 12:6. He was mistakenly thought to be reliable but he was dishonest. Jesus knew him well but yet gave him the privilege to be saved. "Have I not chosen you Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil! Are you a devil or a Saint? Please don't pretend. Check yourself well.

3. Judas Iscariot was one of those Peter defended, "We believe" and "We know". Simon Peter answered him, "We believe and we know that you are the Holy One of Israel" John 6:69. He must have had experiential knowledge of God until selfishness, greed, lust, care of the riches and glory of the world over rode him. He got stampeded at the "battle of Champaign"! The High priests and Scribes who were looking for whom to destroy, sighted him, saw his appetite, gluttony, and opened Champaign for him and strangulated him. What a pity! May our enemies never get us destroyed

Prayer: Oh Lord my God I shall not fall into the wicked hand of my enemies. I shall end well in my life and career in Jesus name.
