Theme: The Shepherd's Hidden Words
Topic: Battle of disciples Part 1
Text: 2Sam 20:14 - 17
"Sheba passed through all the tribes of Israel to Abel Beth Maakah and through the entire region of the Berites, who gathered together and followed him. 15 All the troops with Joab came and besieged Sheba in Abel Beth Maakah. They built a siege ramp up to the city, and it stood against the outer fortifications. While they were battering the wall to bring it down, 16 a wise woman called from the city, " Listen! Listen! Tell Joab to come here so I can speak to him 17 He went toward her, and she asked, "Are you Joab?" "I am", he answered. She said, "Listen to what your servant has to say". "I'm listening", he said"
When both Fake and True Disciples engage into battles on behalf of their masters, only wise and peaceful disciples can save the city. Our text for today presents two parties, Bikri the Benjamite who fought for late king Saul and had mobilized Lots of supporters from Abel Beth Maakah, a famous wise city to fight Joab who stood for King David. Fortunately, there appeared a wise woman who had her ancient riddle to settle the matter and save her city. Are you there? Do you have any message of peace. God wants us to use His hidden words wisely to save ugly situations. Only the truth we say in any case will settle it well, save people and save the city
1. "While they were battering the wall to bring it down" vs 16. Bikri had led the city of Abel Beth Maakah into trouble. Joab and his army were about pulling the wall down and destroy the people before the intervention of the wise woman. Can you safe the situation?
2. "A wise woman called from the city" vs 17. Where were the men? The name of the wise woman was not mentioned but God used her. Those who make themselves available, God will use them. Who is wise there? Who is available there? Who stands for the truth and calls a spade a spade? The wise woman said the truth and saved the situation of bloodshed, destruction of a city and death of innocent citizens.
3. "Listen to what your servant has to say, " I am listening".vs 17 Appeal well presented is an appeal well treated. The wise woman knew the truth, used good approach, and did the right thing. There is no benefit in wickedness. When justice is down, the city was saved and Joab relaxed. Let's listen to the riddle tomorrow. May God use us to settle numerous case around us both in church and families.
Prayer: Thank you my Lord God for sending Jesus Christ the wise man to save me and my family from the attack of the enemy; help me to apply my own wisdom to save others in Jesus name.
