Topic: Cause of Greater Offence

Text: John 6:62


"Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before?" 


The eating of Christ's flesh and blood as commanded by Jesus is a lesser activity than the severe suffering believers will pass through before entering into heaven! Oh! Ignorance is the cause of our misunderstanding. Jesus said to the Scribes and teachers of the Law who saw Jesus words for the paralyzed man as blasphemy "Which one is easier to say, " Your sins are forgiven ' or to say "Go up and walk?" " Matt 9:6. " I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins", So he said to the paralyzed man ," Get up, take your mat and go home" Matt 9;6. Somebody must rise up today to a greater height. Rise up and walk to your destiny! 


1. Jesus made a statement that he did not complete. He told them, this grumbling may increase when you see another thing, more sufferings for me and for you. To eat my flesh and drink my blood is cheaper than the sufferings we shall pass through before sitting in heaven


2. Jesus said to his disciples, "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends" John 15:13. The disciples whom he addressed did not understand it. Their focused was on his physical flesh and blood. Until our eyes open to the gravity of Christ's sacrifice on the cross, we may not appreciate him by offering ourselves to him. 

3. So we are expected to see beyond our nose. What provokes us now may not be important to God What we are much concerned about today may not be the most important issue. There are greater things that were ahead than eating the flesh and drinking the blood of Jesus. You will see the son of man (Christ's messianic title) ascend to where he was before, and that means his suffering and death. This may still provoke you more. May God help us to pursue most important goals for the kingdom


Prayer: Oh LORD my God, guide me to focus on most important project of the kingdom. Give me more grace to give my life and services sacrificially no matter the cost and I shall be blessed in Jesus name.
