Author: Rt Rev Christian Ajuonuma PhD JP.

Theme: The Shepherd's Hidden Words

Topic: The Fake Disciples

Text: John 6:65 - 66

"He went on to say, " This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them. 66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him"

There are two kinds of disciples: The True Disciples who " are enabled", " granted" or "given" by God and The Fake Disciples" who are called, chosen or given by themselves, by their people or by Satan . From the above text, it is clear that fake disciples of Jesus were in majority. They came to overshadow the twelve who were truly called. "From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him" John 6:66. Are you among the True or Fake Disciples of Jesus? Are you a True or Fake member of the church?

1. The word "Disciple" is used both in technical and ordinary sense in N.T. (New Testament). Technically a disciple is a learner, an apprentice, a pupil or student under a master, a teacher or a trainer. In ordinary way a disciple is someone who adheres or follows someone without much commitment or loyalty to his master or leader. He pretends to be a follower.

2. The Fake Disciples who followed Jesus had no indepth knowledge of his person, character or purposes. "For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him" John 6:64 . The Fake disciples were attracted by physical needs " to eat bread" John 6:26; to be appointed leaders, to represent their people or community etc They are always loyal to those who called them!

3. The Fake Disciples do not last. They creat a scene to scatter, to put confusion or cause doubt, disbelief in the heart of others. These are the many that went back and walked no more with Jesus. Where are you? Back or front? Please don't be among the Fake Disciples

Prayer: My Father and my Defender, thank you for locating me; heal my wounds and cleanse my sores; make me the kind of instrument you want me to be. It's well with me in Jesus name.
